Italian cowboys determined to expand the definition of blues beyond the Blues Brothers in their hometown of Alessandria, the Black Smokers slather a Black Keys-type duo strength over tunes inspired by everyone from R.L. Burnside to AC/DC. The band dubs it "downhome-psycho-rock-blues" and it’s an easy fit for a roadhouse. This is just one of four dates on their U.S. adventure, as Chicago’s Pravda Records gets set to distribute the stateside release of the band’s latest LP, Used. (Gavin Paul)
